RootOne LLC is a Delaware limited liability company, whose sole member is the Board of Jewish Education, Inc. d/b/a The Jewish Education Project, a New York not-for-profit corporation. 

Teens interested in receiving a RootOne Voucher will confirm they are eligible and find a supported RootOne trip provider. After the teen completes the pre-trip early requirements from RootOne, our organization will provide a $3,000 voucher directly to your selected trip provider who will then deduct the cost from your trip.

RootOne provides Vouchers of $3,000 per participant.

RootOne Vouchers are run through the individual trip providers. Each year, our list of providers changes, so be sure to check our trip providers tab for more information.

To apply for a Voucher, individuals must be a current 9th, 10th, or 11th grade Jewish teen, may not currently attend an Orthodox Jewish Day School, must reside in the United States or Canada and must apply to one of the programs listed under our trip providers tab. Once a teen is accepted to a summer Israel experience, the trip provider  will reach out directly to the teen and their family with a link to apply online for the RootOne Voucher.

There is no set deadline because applications are rolling, but when there are no longer Vouchers available, applicants will be added to a waiting list.

No, there is a one-time eligibility for RootOne vouchers .

If you received a copy of your application in your e-mail, then you are eligible to receive a Voucher, but you won’t be finally “accepted” until you have fulfilled the early experience education requirements.

Unfortunately, the answer to all those is no. Other countries visited will not impact the status of your Voucher as long as your trip provider is an approved RootOne grantee and you spend at least three weeks in Israel.

If airfare is included in the cost of your trip, then the 3,000 applies to the total cost, which could be seen as covering airfare. If you are required to purchase your tickets separately, then no, you cannot apply the Voucher towards any individual purchases, including transportation.

RootOne believes that Israel experiences have the potential to deeply impact a young person’s understanding of Israel and its natural wonders (places and people), its current complexities, and its vital history. RootOne also believes that Israel experiences are so much more than the trip itself. They should begin no later than when a teen signs up for their summer Israel trip, they should continue to develop and deepen on their summer program in Israel and should lead to continued opportunities to learn more about Israel, to deepened connections to the land and its people, and to confidence and clarity when speaking with peers about Israel.

To help facilitate all of this, RootOne and trip providers partner to provide RootOne participants with chances to learn more about Israel prior to stepping on the plane, priming the pump for a fantastic experience in Israel itself.* To help participants deepen their connection to and knowledge of Israel when they return, RootOne and its partners offer access to an array of experiences, opportunities, and content post-trip and throughout the rest of their high school experience.
